Research continually shows how effective chiropractors are at providing patient centered care. Most people find chiropractic care as more affordable than other forms of care provided to patients suffering certain injuries. Why is chiropractor care more effective than other forms of medical treatments?
The research shows that the average person saves quite a bit of money when receiving chiropractic care. In 2012, a research showed that spinal manipulation was the most affordable way to treat the neck and lower back pain. People who have their back pain treated through spinal manipulation will likely save in comparison to the person who receives physiotherapy or other forms of traditional health care.
In a study published in 2007, patients were shown to have lower medical costs over years of receiving proper medical treatment. Over seven years, patients under a PCP coverage plan saw fewer hospital visits and outpatient surgeries. During that same period, people were also far less likely to receive medical prescriptions. All of these factors combined lowered health care costs for the average person under the PCP plan. Hospital admissions documented among members in this group declined by 60 percent. Patients who had outpatient surgery declined by 62 percent, and the number of days spent in the hospital by members dropped 59 percent. In the area of prescription drug medication, the number of prescriptions decreased 85 percent over the years.
Even though patients see savings in using chiropractic care, they are able to save even more when they receive chiropractic care. In another study published by Archives showed that health care cost savings exceeded a thousand dollars per year when patients were enrolled in a chiropractic plan. The study showed that patients were able to save between $208 and $1,463 when they carried chiropractic coverage plans.
More research shows how the patient centered care benefits patients being treated for issues like back pain. Patients who experience chronic back pain saw a significant reduction in pain when they sought treatment with both family physicians and chiropractors. A study published in the Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics showed, however, that the patient centered approach to treating lower back pain provided by chiropractors produces a better treatment outcome. Within one month’s time of receiving treatment for their back pain, the average chiropractic patient reported a higher satisfaction score than those who were treated by family physicians. Fifty-six percent of patients reported significant improvement to their condition when compared to one-third of other patients being treated for back pain.
Patients can see a better treatment outcome in receiving chiropractic care in some cases. Research shows that chiropractic care accelerates the recovery process. Patients can also see lower health care costs when treated by a chiropractor in not having to make hospital visits or pay for costly medical prescriptions. Patients can save in multiple areas when they receive chiropractic care. They have fewer prescriptions, doctor visits and shorter hospital stays. They are even able to save additionally with a chiropractic care plan. The patient-centered, affordable alternative to traditional forms of medical care provided for pain management is what makes chiropractic care more effective than other forms of treatment.
