Create A Healthy Cocktail That Fights Back Pain

Did you know that a cocktail could actually be healthy, while also helping to relieve your achy back? It’s true! It’s not recommended to drink alcohol on a regular basis to achieve these health benefits, but if you’re going to drink a cocktail this summer, you might as well make it a healthy one!

A kale margarita may not sound appetizing at first glance, but it actually is! You can easily hide the taste of kale while still receiving the many health benefits of kale. Kale is an excellent anti-inflammatory. One cup of kale contains 10 percent of the recommended dietary allowance of omega-3 fatty acids! Omega-3 fatty acids help to fight autoimmune disorders, arthritis, asthma, among many other issues.

Kale is also filled with antioxidants which help to fight against different forms of cancer. Plus, the leafy green is high in Vitamin K and helps to provide normal bone health and fights against blood clotting. Kale can even lower cholesterol levels. Kale really does have it all! Kale is high in Vitamin A, Vitamin C, calcium, and iron!

So, before you question whether or not you should try a kale margarita, think of all the wonderful benefits that one kale margarita could provide. Plus, you can even use coconut water in place of the alcohol if your kids would like a healthy summer drink as well.

To make your healthy kale cocktail, chop 3 cups of kale and add to a blender with 2 cups of fresh or frozen fruit, such as mangoes, papaya, or pineapple. Because of the green coloring of kale, you will want to stay away from strawberries since it could turn the drink brown. Add about 1 ½ cups of any bottled margarita mix, and combine with ¾ cup tequila or coconut water. Add one cup of ice and blend.

To make a kale margarita on the rocks, there’s another delicious and healthy version of the kale margarita. Instead, your margarita will resemble a green juice with a twist. You will need a juicer rather than a blender to make this version.

First, juice 3 to 4 kale leaves and discard any solid forms. Next, juice 2 limes and a one-inch stick of ginger. Using a shaker, combine the kale-lime juice with 4 ounces of tequila and 2 ounces of orange liqueur. Shake and add agave nectar for extra sweetness, if needed. Serve over ice. Who said cocktails can’t be healthy, and who said that green drinks weren’t delicious?
